Wedding IDEAS?

I am looking for a wedding theme or at least some ideas. My wedding is in November and my colors are Hot Pink, Dark Pink, and Grey. Navy as an accent. Me and my fiancee are kind of rockers but were in our early 20s. we have a baby that we are including as the ring bearer. we have three bridesmaids and three groomsmen. Any Ideas?

sounds like you’re good to go. are you having a reception? you should prepare some trendy food if you are. or just make the usual look trendy, or forget that and make the centrepieces stand out. anyway, for the wedding maybe you can get 2 doves and have their chest painted with something that can easily wash off in the rain. using the colours of your theme, it could be a bow, for union, or 2 guitars crossing, or one of those double guitars, u know, the joint ones with wedding bells. anyway, the purpose of the doves is to st them free afterwards to symbolise you two going into the world together. its the only thing i can think of. all the best.

Your “theme ” should be love or since you have a child already, why not Family ?

You could totally rock out your cake or get a baker to do one for you. I think anything that is over the top and in your face would be good. Punk out your wedding party’s hair a little, style specicfic accessories but don’t get too crazy you still want it to be nice not tacky. Change up the music, I’ve heard versions of Cannon in D all rocked out. you could walk down the aisle to that.

You could do a rock club type therem. Do ti at night and the reception (after dinner) can be a little darker, your favorite music playing and some kind of light up centerpieces. You can do casual and have your guests wear club type clothes instead of dressy wedding clothes. you can get a really great white dress, but not traditional.
Put the girls in funky hot pink dresses and the guys can wear grey or navy pants and pink ties.

You might be able to find some instrumental music that would be suitable for your wedding, instead of the traditional wedding march. I don’t know which rock groups or songs you like, but if you want to tie in the rock theme tastefully during your wedding service I would try to find instrumental arrangements of your favorite rock ballads for the procession, candle-lighting ceremony (if you opt for it), pronouncement of Mr. & Mrs., and recessional.

For example, I used three songs from a CD of the Irish band The Corr’s when I was married on a tour boat; we used my Irish heritage and the nautical theme. Our colors were dark green, cream, white and black, and we used ivory and yellow roses and English ivy. The music was completely non-traditional, and this is part of what made the ceremony uniquely ours.

If you are having a traditional wedding cake, you might opt for the groom’s cake to reflect the rock theme.

A house downtown has strings of record albums hanging from their porch rafters as a screen from the neighboring house; you might try using this same type of idea in your reception hall ceiling throughout or just in the middle of the dance floor, above the spot where you will dance your first dance together as husband and wife.

If you have attended some rock concerts together, you might display each set of ticket stubs framed with the date you attended (or create falsies, if you didn’t save the tickets) to hang on a wall by the cake table or the gift table. Above the DJ or band, you could hang cut outs of guitars, drum sets, and musical symbols (staff symbol, notes, etc.). You might also use strobe lights as part of the musical display (consult the DJ or a friend in a rock band for ideas).

The gift card box can also be decorated to carry the rock theme, with cut out magazine pics of your favorite rockers in a collage.

You might also use music or rock symbols on your candles, toasting goblets, napkins, and centerpieces.

Dangling bead strings and lava lamps are throw-backs to 70s rock culture, along with tie-dyed t-shirts. Since you’re in your 20s, these symbols of rock culture may or may not fit your tastes. Most of these ideas are for the reception rather than the wedding itself.

Just out of curiosity, in what type of venue will your wedding take place, and what will be the style of your dress? These will be cues to you when it comes to planning the wedding ceremony. If you are going to wear a traditional wedding gown, the bridal party in formal wear, and your groom in a suit or a tux, you should limit the expression of your theme to your music during the ceremony to keep it more formal. This is especially important if you plan to be married in a church, where you need to be aware that even though this is your day you need to consider the feelings of your guests in attendance. This is why the reception tends to be far less formal an affair than the ceremony, in terms of your expression of theme.

Best wishes to you and to your groom! I hope you have a great time planning your special day!
